Friend View project completed
Wed, 2009-09-02 10:50Hello,
Important note to Friend Viewers: Nokia Friend View is an experimental research project from Nokia Research Center. The Friend View project is now completed and is being moved to the Beta Labs Archived section and will later be discontinued.
For many of you, like for us, using Friend View has become a part of your daily lives, and so we’ll keep it running until September 30, 2009, so you aren’t suddenly cut off (but we’ll no longer be accepting new users.) After that, the service will be shut down. On the Account page, you’ll now soon find a new link for downloading all your data (e.g. your messages) as an XML file.
Thank you very much for helping us by participating in the Friend View project, and for all your feedback which will help Nokia to improve its services!
If you still want to share your location, you can now lifecast where you are and what you are up to with your Facebook friends using Ovi. Learn more and start sharing your memorable moments with others by downloading the widget for your Nokia N97 from Nokia Beta Labs.
Many thanks,
The Friend View team

The Account page link mentioned in the blog post for downloading account data is now in place.
nokia, please don't let fv down.... We, users, need it.
I think Nokia just decided to give up against Facebook.
I like Friendview but this seemed certain, Nokia should now concentrate on few services and try to build them really well rather than doing many things.

i dont want to share street adress and zip code with every friend on facebook each time i post like lifecast does now. I have other qirks with it to, but thats for another entry somewhere else. Let ud now morn the death of friendview which was a great app in early stage wich could have been so much more if it would have gotten a chance to live and evolve
it could have been a hub to update location and memorials to facebook and twittter and a bunch of other sites trough a site like fire eagle, dopplr, friendfeed or nokia's own plazes. It stood pretty good on its own feets to.
The sadest part might be that it is beeing replaced with something lesser and more confied. Nokia is supossed to be about communication, openess, freedom of choice rather than another provider forceing facebook down ones troat..
rip friendview and kudos to the designer of the app for brilliant interface and the rest of the team for making such a flawless program allready from start and shame on managment for not recognizing its potential.
You will be missed fv

Sorry to hear that NFV is going to be discontinued. I'm going to miss it. I really love the application, but since it relies on certain Nokia devices it may be difficult to find a broader audice for it.
I think Google Latitude is as close as one can get to NFV, but with the difference that Google Latitude is available for a wider range of devices.
Keep up the good work with the other projects, guys. For example an N97 version of Sport Tracker *hint* :-)

O no... Nokia disappointed me
I liked this service and am sad to see there's no replacement for it. I don't have a Facebook account and I don't want one (if that makes me a social outcast so be it). Ovi services should work with Ovi account only.
hola excelente aplicaci
I'll miss it, it has more nice name
