Hi,

Greetings from Nokia Pilots team. We have been contacted few times on questions concerning our new program called Nokia Pilots. Currently we have our pages located at www.nokia.com/pilots in the Developers section in www.nokia.com.

In essence Nokia Pilots is an umbrella program that helps get Nokia users around the world involved in our creative development process. The program acts as a channel for users to share their ideas and suggest improvements that we can put into action as we try to create the best products and services possible. Our focus is to trial new concepts that may only exist in protype creations as well as trialling latest services, SW and devices which may not yet available in the market or ones we have not yet publicly announced.

We run Nokia Pilot projects involving Nokia Pilot users from a variety of countries and with diverse motivations and interests. This variety helps us get a broad range of the most relevant feedback, and helps us develop the best possible solutions for users of Nokia products and services.

We are giving a few selected participants the chance to participate in real product development. What we mean by few is that we match our Nokia Pilot candidates interests to the different projects we are working on. In cases where the interests and Pilots user profiles match we will invite you to dedicated arenas where we are able to share information we would otherwise not be able to do. As a Nokia Pilot, you will become an advisor to our development teams from around the world. Nokia Pilots program offers an opportunity to be involved in the design, development and/or testing phases of concepts, products and/or services - as a Nokia Pilot, you may get a chance to see the latest products and services before anyone else.

I have been also asked few times why we do this. The answer is obvious. Only together can we explore the different perspectives, views and motivations underneath the demand landscape and richness of cultures. Of course the other point is that we truly believe that by involving users around the world we can become better at creating more interesting and exiting stuff. We also just want to give users with different needs and motivations a chance to try out new stuff and let us know what they think about it.

The difference to Beta Labs is quite clear cut. Beta Labs can share applications, content and services for trial usage to thousands and hundreds of thousands of users in an open platform. Nokia Pilots program is in contrast allowing Nokia

I would like such a position... BUT, I would like to address something else first. Nokia almost neglects a market which other brands do consider. It is the availability of a more feminine phone. Yes, you had the L'amour collection... but, I had difficulty convincing my wife to buy a Nokia. Eventually we were able to settle for a simple 6120c. Especially in the emerging market of China, Nokia phones are known to be boy-phones. Look at the N-series, it is all about technology. The E-series, businessphone... from which only the E51 kinda appeals to most women.

Another issue with it is. There is no simple way to customize (or preset) the interface to show essential functionality without getting lost in the menu structure. The location of applications are not standardized. Tools->Memory became Settings->Data Mgr.->Memory. Because of the use of the Search 4.0 I think the phone DOES get some simplicity back for women... but be honest, it is a technology driven tool and therefore kinda appeals more to men.

Smartphones are great... I certainly like them, but we need to make them smarter to use! I wish I could assist Nokia in any way... please do no hesitate to ask me any questions.

i,m writeing to nokia please make a phon which has a lighter.and a bottle opener on one end,so wee can get more use out of our phone.for people that l?ke to drink smoke, and talk on our phone.!!

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

We will of course recognize good contributors from Nokia Discussions. Our members will be in contact with the selected candidates soon.

And naturally our own Nokia team around the world can register to participate as well. Link will be the same.

BR Mikko

If Pilots Come Up with Something Revolutionary, Will he/she be awarded for that or will Nokia Claim his idea/concept/work?

Adios

P.S.
I would love to be a Pilot in REMADE project for my passion to save the Environment. I could also be handy for any MEDICAL related Projects as i am a Doctor by Profession.

Wow! Sign me up, Please! :)
This is a fanboy's dream... Kudos Nokia for making it a reality!

Woo

This sounds like a very good idea..

Where do I sigh up.. :D

Can Nokia employees become pilots?

Will guru ranked members from http://discussions.europe.nokia.com also get an endorsement tag? Some of the guru's on there have been helping people for years and deserve recognition.

Sounds Good, Well done Nokia. :)

So beautiful images

Roll on September.!

Great idea! Looking forward to it!

I am currently travelling in south east asia and will be traveling globally for some years to come, I use a Nokia N95 8gb to stay in touch with friends and family back home... If you would take a look at my website below you will see that I use the n95 to its full potential with some complex systems and methods that many people I meet have no idea about but wish they did because I have created a completely simple to use and time saving method of not just staying in touch but actually reaching everyone I want to and more with every detail and moment I choose.

Im going to be travelling more the next few years across many parts of the world and currently I am using:

N95 8gb
Bluetooth keyboard
location tagger.... for Geotagging pictures
lifeblog.... for blog posts
share online v3.... for wifi picture sending
Sports tracker.... for adventure tracking
Nokia Maps v2.... for general mapping and guidance
Picasa web albums.... for unlimited geo rss feeds for embeded google maps
shozu... for backup upload software
plus a few more sites and software to make my one stop nokia travel blog.
All this has been run soley from my N95 with minimal usage on a pc, while travelling through THAILAND, CAMBODIA and VIETNAM... If I can do this while I am in some of the most remote parts of south east asia then Im sure given an opportunity I could be extremely useful in many areas...

I would really appreciate it if you took a look and gave me some feedback, Ive had other very popular nokia blog sites write about what I have done and much positive feedback, also I have been approached by several software developers to help test their products...

I would like to ask you if you would like to extent the same same offer or perhaps another...

Hi,
I've been trying to get into Nokia Pilots since it's announce. I'm continually getting "Sorry, logging in is not possible at the moment, please try again soon. "

There's no "contact" option on the pilots page. Can anyone help / get in touch. My email is nigel at, and then (reversed) uk dot me dot cherrybyte

well this what its all about, so many times nokia do things, and i think why, if youd have just put this in, moved that around, and changed, that, now nokia are giving the chance for experienced, nokia users to tell them whats best, well done nokia!!!!!!!!!

Also note
* I can login to ovi.com and my nokia
* If I try to register on pilots, it says I'm already registered
* If I try to get a password reset sent it says "Unsuccessful, please check your values and try again! "

Arrrgggghhh

WOW!!! This is like a dream for me, Im very loyal to Nokia and I love their products and their concept.

Hello, this is Jeremy Yon and I'm a student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and I really need your help.

I have an assignment in reference to finding out information about Nokia in general. I need the best blog sites that are more likely to provide me with the following information; the type of "best practices" or productivity improvement projects that are are actually being installed (e.g ISO 9000); the estimated cost of such projects; and their completion times.

I need this information preferably tomorrow so immediate response are most definitely welcomed (needed in this case, being that I have to submit this on Monday lol.
