A feature should be added to both Maps Loader and the phone Ovi Maps application to show the maps which have already been downloaded and installed.

Maps Loader should also show which version of mapping data has been installed and whether a later version is available.

The way it is now with Maps Loader (v3.0.28.0) and Ovi Maps (3.03) is that there is no way of knowing what maps have already been installed. The only way to be sure that the latest maps for a country have been installed is to download the data again!

This is something we have been asking for for over a year now in different threads and previous forums. Hopefully it will make it on the the development teams roadmap and come to fruition some time soon.

Using Ovi Suite you can get an overview regarding the installed maps .
Function software update should us give an information on brandnew maps ( hopefully ) .

I was going to say - Ovi Suite map loader tells you what maps are loaded on your device - I believe in the bottom left corner

map loader on mac also needs to be updated, and show what's installed on the phone. It also fails sometimes with the n97mini

Ovi Suite you shows everything.
Still, it takes quite some time for the app to load the phone-maps contents.

@WiktorLipski: Last time I checked via OVI Suite I did not think it informed the user of the Map Data version on the their phone to compare with the Map Data version on the servers. I believe it tells you what maps you have installed, but did not think it tells you what version that map data is. Maybe I need to check again.

I have used MapLoader to load whole continents, Europe and America. (This you cannot do with OviSuite.)

The map listing given by OviSuite is somewhat strange: it lists America and Europe but also some of the countries but no all of them.

It would also be great if the map loader or OviSuite and also a device itself could display a map of world with highlighted countries regions the user has in the device.
I would also like to have functionality in OviSuite that would compare map version I have in my device with version on server and alert me that a new map for some country is available.

An incremental improvement of maps would be great as well. That means, that if you already have map of, let's say, Czech Republic and a new version is available, the device would download only the part that has changed. (perhaps this is already implemented and I do not know about it)
